The Fishburne field house was well defended from interconference 和 out-of-conference opponents as the Wrestling Caissons hosted the 2022 VISSA state duals tournament on 22 January. Despite weather 和 Covid cancellations, 7 teams converged for battle. Our cadets defeated Bishop Ireton (48-24), Hargrave (66-12), 和 St. Stephens & St. Agnes (48-24) on their way to meet the formidable Paul VI Panthers in the finals.
The 3rd ranked Caissons 和 the 4th ranked Panthers were almost equally matched in manpower, as neither team was plagued with forfeits. Cadets Mushkidiani (HWT) 和 Barone (120lb) lit the fire early, starting the meet with two pins. A strategic move by Paul VI’s coach bumped up their 1st ranked 126-pound wrestler to face Cadet Lianez in the 132-pound bout. As Lianez grinded out a stunning pin, the fire surged. Panther wrestlers were stymied as Caissons Dorman, Kreamer, Farrar, Branham, 和 Hoover all pinned their opponents on their march to victory (55-22). The Fishburne faithful were roaring by the end of the meet.
Congratulations to Cadet Dorman who accomplished his 100th career win against his Ireton opponent! Roll on, Caissons!
